Lately...

So here I am at the computer again, allowing John Legend to take me home.

This past week has been a remarkable one. Just a couple of days ago, the world witnessed history in the making. As you know, the United States of America has elected a black male to lead this country. Now I am not going to go into who I/we voted for, but I do want to bring this up since it is such a pinnacle moment of our time.

Just the very fact that we have elected a person of color shows how far this country has come. Just a few decades ago, immigrants, blacks, and women were not allowed to vote, and were withheld certain rights and freedoms. And now, here, in 2008, the greatest country in the world will be lead by someone of a different descent than those that have served before him. Now this hits home within me. Being in a band of different races, we have witnessed racism first-hand. Now I am not talking about hate crimes and what not, thank God, but as we have traveled around the country touring, race still plays a factor in our everyday society. I am not here trying to point fingers at anyone, I just am trying to bring to everyone's attention that racism is still alive and well even today.

I just would like to ask all of us to pray for President Elect, Barack Obama. As he embarks on this journey of leading our nation to hopeful better times, let us not rely on just him, but rally together and make this nation a better place. Regardless of who I/we or you voted for, he will be our president, and let us all come together and make this place a better one.

Now we must not believe that this man is the messiah. He is a human being just like the rest of us. I believe that this election has shown that America is ready for change. Both parties preached "Change". God has a plan for what lies ahead. The only way that we will remain confident and sane is if we are confident in God's choices. Let us have confidence in our God because He loves us more than we could ever imagine.
